The Legume Information System (Legumeinfo) is a biological web portal that integrates genetic and genomic information across many legume species and wild relatives. Recently, Legumeinfo and related sites migrated to Jekyll - a ruby-based static-site generator. To consolidate developer effort and maximize productivity, a Jekyll theme was created for these sites that encapsulates core functionality and styling. The site you're looking at now is a "starter" intended to demonstrate how to build a Jekyll site with the theme.
In addition to demonstrating ALL of the theme's Jekyll features, this starter site also demonstrates the theme's integration of the Legumeinfo GraphQL Server and the @legumeinfo/web-components JavaScript library. When combined, these technologies allow data to be dynamically loaded and visualized within an otherwise static Jekyll site.
Legumeinfo is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service (USDA-ARS). It is developed as a collaboration between the National Center for Genome Resources (NCGR) and the USDA-ARS SoyBase and Legume Clade Database group at Ames, IA, with the help of many other researchers.
